The 4WD indicator light on the dashboard of my 2003 Isuzu Rodeo stayed on for the last week or two, and the four wheel drive unit did not operate.. Since Zimmerman was listed as a n Isuzu authorized service center in an internet search I dropped the SUV to have it checked on Tuesday, June 14th. I didn't hear back until around 4pm, and was told they weren't able to find the exact cause of the problem due to the age of the vehicle, but they had some probable reasons. They were unable to fix the problem, but when I picked it up, a new problem emerged, now another warning light in the indicating the 4WD was being engaged was flashing on and off continuously. I will be taking the car back to see if they can fix it on Thursday afternoon but I don't expect to pay another $102.00 this time. . Will not be using Zimmerman again after this...
Hi Terry, I am sorry that we were not able to fix your Isuzu. Our extensive diagnositic equipment was not able to communicate with your vehicle to diagnose the complete problem. We do work on Isuzu vehicles but, there is a handicap due to the vehicle manufacturer no longer operates in the USA. There were no parts available (OEM or aftermarket) for the vehicle after we did other testing. We suggested used parts but you chose not to go this route and did not want to put any money into the vehicle for repairs. I apologize that you misunderstood our diagnosis. We also rechecked the blinking light which was cause by the dial being placed on the 4WD selection. I am attaching a copy of the narrative from my diagnostic technician that was placed on your invoice. "Inspected vehicle for four wheel drive operation, verified four wheel drive to not operate, attempted to communicate with the module with various scan tools to be able to command actuators, unable to connect, manually applied power to front differential motor, motor operated properly, attempted to apply power to the transfer case motor, unable to get actuator to operate, transfer case motor has likely failed, unable to locate parts, would have to attempt to locate one through a salvage yard, customer chose not to explore this option."
